Spelling of Mohave/Mojave?

Note on the spelling of Mohave/Mojave: In 1859, when the
United States military subjugated the tribe, the Mohave people
were divided into two groups. A portion of the population was
relocated to the Colorado River Indian Reservation at Parker,
Arizona. This group spelled their name with an "h." The Mojaves
who remained near Needles spelled their name with a "j" after Fort
Mojave which was established on the banks of the Colorado River.
The two groups continue to use the difference in spelling. On this
site, the tribe is referred to historically and as a whole as the Mohave.
Mojave is used only when referring to members of the Needles
group.
